Maryam is a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of New York.  She is also a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, which includes Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology from NCCAOM, the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.  She holds a  Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and a BSN with focus in Holistic Nursing from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM).  She is also the recipient of the 2015 PCOM Alumni Award for Demonstrating Inter-professional Communication.  

 

As a Registered Nurse for the past fourteen years, Maryam has worked in many New York City hospitals, mostly in ER, but also in Pediatric, Psychiatric and Neo-Natal ICU. 

 

Maryam is also a Polarity Therapy Practitioner and has studied Cranio-Sacral Therapy and Polarity with the Life Energy Institute.  She has attended Shiatsu classes at Mother Hand Center, and Classical Acupuncture workshops at the China Town Wellness Center.

 

She started her physical training as an actor in Experimental Theater at NYU in 1999.  Since then she has taken many classes with Bonny Bainbridge Cohen at the Body Mind Centering Institute.  In addition, she practices Ashtanga Yoga.
